A NEW face will get his first test of competitive action for Heywood Cricket Club on Saturday.
Joe Lovell, an 18-year-old all-rounder, will be in the first team squad for the opening friendly against Bury at Crimble (noon).
Lovell, an off-spinner who is also a useful lower order batsman, came through the junior ranks at Royton before having a season at Milnrow last year.
Making a return to the club in time for the game will be Australian overseas amateur Hamish Paterson, the 20-year-old opening bowler from Melbourne who proved himself a popular acquisition in 2011.
The action starts earlier than normal at the request of the visitors, but a second team game against Bury – also at Crimble – the following day will get under way at 1pm.
