HEYWOOD receive one of the Lancashire area’s most powerful clubs at Crimble on Sunday.
Crosby side the Northern Club, one of the leading lights in the Liverpool Competition, are the opposition in the second round of the Lancashire Cricket Board KO Cup (1pm).
Many Heywood supporters will remember travelling to Crosby in the 2013 semi-final, and being impressed by their hospitality and facilities.
Northern overcame Heywood and went on to beat Bamford Fieldhouse in the final at Old Trafford.
Among their squad is promising youngster Liam Grey, who some at Heywood will be familiar with during his developing days with Thornham in the Lancashire County League.
It’s an exciting test for Heywood and, possibly, a taste of things to come against different opposition in the Greater Manchester Premier League next season.
