Kate Cross held her composure on her debut in the England Women’s Test team in Perth.
The Heywood CC bowler, 22, was awarded her cap by Charlotte Edwards before England won the toss and elected to bat at the WACA.
On the unique WACA wicket, Australia’s quality attack reduced England to 193-9 before Cross strode to the crease against the new ball.
She stood up well to the challenge, scoring an unbeaten three as England were bowled out for 201.
Anya Shrubsole then picked up two wickets to leave the hosts reeling on 9-2 at the close of play.
This is the only Test being played as part of the Ashes, but there are also three ODIs and three T20s which will decide the destination of the Ashes.
