Two more pictures from Crossy of work going on today.
Work is already progressing smoothly and quickly on the new artificial nets at the Lake End of Crimble.
The nets are being funded thanks to the £50,000 grant Heywood CC secured from Sport England’s Olympic Legacy Fund and mark a new era for the club. Let’s hope we take better care of our new facilities than some clubs I have seen.
The work is being undertaken by Exclusive Leisure who have already started levelling work on the area where the nets will be sited.
They will be at the club for about two weeks levelling the site, placing the base layers for the nets, putting the surface down and then the synthetic surface and the nets themselves. The third week will see the fencing installed around the whole thing.
Club captain and the driving force behinf the nets, Bobby Cross, hopes we may be able to use the nets by the end of the month.
He added: “Weather will be a factor, of course, but they have started in the current monsoon so hopefully they can make some progress.
“I think it will make a huge difference to the club and to the quality of practice available to both juniors and seniors and it represents a further step forward in the development of the club.”
