Dom Fawcett shone with the bat, but Heywood thirds were edged out in a close game at Euxton on Sunday. Fawcett his an excellent 75, and, with help from Sean McConnell and skipper Pete Mills, put Heywood in with a chance of reaching a stiff target of 201. A bitterly cold night couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Heywood under-15s, who were impressive in beating Radcliffe at Crimble. They posted an impressive 147-1 off their 20 overs, thanks mainly to excellent knocks from Ben Thulborn (30 ret), Morgan Kay (32 ret) and captain James Mills (30). Heywood’s under-18s enjoyed a winning start to the season at home to Norden last night. A strong side boasting several first-teamers was too strong for a young Norden side, bowling the visitors to Crimble out for 56 then knocking off the runs without loss.
