Heywood’s under-15s came unstuck at home to Clifton last Friday. In a match reduced to 16 overs because of poor light, Heywood only made 48-3. Dom Fawcett shone with the bat, but Heywood thirds were edged out in a close game at Euxton on Sunday. A bitterly cold night couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Heywood under-15s, who were impressive in beating Radcliffe at Crimble. They posted an impressive 147-1 off their 20 overs, thanks mainly to excellent knocks from Ben Thulborn (30 ret), Morgan Kay (32 ret) and captain James Mills (30). Heywood’s under-18s enjoyed a winning start to the season at home to Norden last night. A strong side boasting several first-teamers was too strong for a young Norden side, bowling the visitors to Crimble out for 56 then knocking off the runs without loss. Heywood 3rd XI ended their season with two defeats last weekend, but they didn’t disgrace themselves. On Saturday they played host to Deane and Derby and posted a challenging target of 184-4 at Crimble.
