Good luck to Heywood CC’s under-13s side, who are getting a pre-season run-out at the Rochdale Junior Indoor Cricket Tournament this half-term.
John Heywood’s side travel to Kingsway Sports Centre on Tuesday 14 February to take on some of the area’s other sides in a tournament that will be “competitive but fun”.
The tournament is being organised by Link 4 Life in conjunction with the Rochdale Cricket Development Coach Sam Holt and the LCB.
The Heywood side picked to play are: Daniel James ( TBC), Sam Sweeney, Jordan Parr, Billy James Radcliffe, Darius Campbell, Jacob Ellis, Ben Crompton, Harrison Crompton (reserve).
The rules for the competition are as follows:
- Each team bats in pairs and face two overs per pair.
- Every member of fielding side bowls one over (SIX BALLS).
- Each wicket to fall- deduct five runs (BATTERS CHANGE ENDS).
- Ways of being out; bowled,caught, run out, hit wicket (NO LBW DECISIONS UNLESS PURPOSELY STOPPED WITH LEG OR FOOT).
- Can be caught off wall or ceiling with two hands. (NOT BOUNDARY WALL OR NET ).
- Ball hitting boundary wall after touching floor – 4 runs.
- Ball hitting boundary wall not touching floor – 6 runs.
- Cannot be caught off boundary wall or net.
- Ball hits wall or net – one run.
- Ball does not hit wall & batters run – two runs.
- Ball hits wall & batters run – three runs.
- Wide or no-ball – three runs to batting side.
- Any byes/leg byes/wides/no balls that happen to go past keeper and hit a wall – three runs.
- Pitch 16 metres long (UNDER 11 & 13S (20 metres (UNDER 15S ).
- Bowl from one end only
- Fielders need to be eight – ten metres from bat on delivery of ball.
- Teams start with 200 runs.
- Keeper can bowl an over but must tell umpire before game
- Batters must wear a protective box & gloves. Further equipment can be worn if needed.
- Should the keeper choose to stand up, a helmet must be worn.
- Any balls deemed to be wide by the umpire in the last over off any innings will be re-bowled.
- Games umpired by team managers and overseen by sam holt.
Results
- The team with highest number of runs wins.
- In the event of a tie, the team that loses least wickets during their innings wins. This rule is also used should the pool with 3 teams all win one game each. In the event of this happening, the team with least number of wickets down during all batting innings of the pool games is the pool winner.
- If still equal each team member bowls one ball at a set of wickets, whichever team hits the wickets the most times wins.
