Crimble’s clubhouse was packed recently for the annual player of the year awards.
Speeches were made and awards handed out by Heywood CC legend Steve Kirby, who, as usual, was in great form.
The major awards went to Bobby Cross (first XI batting and club person of the year), Chris Kaye (first XI bowling), Ross Zelem (young player of the year) and Dom Fawcett, who won the most improved player of the year award. He also won the Manchester and District Cricket Association 3rd Division player of the year.
There were many awards on the night, but maybe the biggest cheer went to Frankie Griffiths, who won the newly-inaugurated Eric Leigh Memorial prize from Kate Cross, the coach of the newly-formed and highly-successful Heywood CC under 9s.
