Chairman David Fare has confirmed the signing of our professional for next season.
We have signed South African Travis Townsend for the 2012 season. He’s a right-handed batsman from Western Province, who spent last season playing for Somerset seconds. He also, I believe, bowls a bit of off-spin.
He can be found on Cricinfo here.
He is also on Twitter here http://twitter.com/#!/TravisTcricket.
The chairman admitted he was pleased to seal the deal before the New Year.
He said: “Hopefully he is a decent player and he has a decent track record playing in county 2nd XI and league cricket.
“We asked Steve Kirby what he knew about him and had positive replies.
“It also helps that he has an English passport and we don’t have to go through all the rigmarole of getting him a work permit.”
