HEYWOOD Cricket Club’s three senior sides will be keeping their fingers crossed that the weather is kind for a delayed start to the season at the weekend (July 25 and 26).
The first team go to Bury area club Brooksbottom on Saturday in the opening game of their mini-league featuring six teams, which has produced fixtures until the end of September.
New faces in the team are James Leadbetter, a batsman from the Kent area, and opening bowler Zahaid Zaman – a colleague of new professional Amar Ullah.
The second team at home to Greenmount on the same day features several players recruited from Bamford Fieldhouse in Gary Deboeck and Charles Stanford-Campbell, plus young brothers Johnny and Ben McCulloch.
And the third team which makes the trip to Clifton on Sunday includes debutants T George and D Openshaw, as well as Stanford-Campbell.
