EVIDENCE that Heywood’s senior side will have to be ready for action in 2021 comes with confirmation of the side being moved up a division in the Greater Manchester Cricket League (GMCL).
The League has now ratified Heywood’s place in Premier Division 2, one rung below the top tier, following Greenmount’s move to the Lancashire League.
And the make-up of the Division underlines that Heywood will certainly have to be on the ball when the action commences, which has yet to be confirmed because of the Covid-19 situation.
The rest of the Premier Division 2 line-up features GMCL newcomers Bradshaw, with a supporting cast of teams threatening to make sure that there will be no ‘easy’ games – on paper at least.
Alongside Heywood and Bradshaw are: Bury, Denton West, Edgworth, Flowery Field, Glossop, Monton, Royton, Stand, Walshaw and Woodhouses.
Heywood’s second team will be in Saturday Division 3E along with Dukinfield, Flowery Field, Friarmere, Friends United, Greenfield, Hadfield St Andrews, Moorside, Mottram, Newton Heath, Oldham and Werneth.
Promotion and relegation for both Divisions will be on a three up and three down basis.
