Following the funeral we can now confirm that donations have exceeded £2,000 and this money will go to the junior cricket section at Heywood CC in memory of Scott. We thank you all for your generosity.
The following message has been sent by Anne & Steve and they have asked us to share it with club members.
Anne and Steve McHugh would like to thank everyone connected with Heywood Cricket Club for their support during what has been a traumatic time following the loss of our son Scott.
We have been overwhelmed at receiving so many cards and flowers, and other messages of sympathy, and this underlines two things to us:
Firstly, if we didn’t know before, we now know how highly regarded Scott was. From his many pals in his former schooldays at Bury Grammar School, Sheffield University, the Hull Daily Mail, the Rochdale Observer group, Mytholmroyd Bowling Club and Hopwood Unionist Bowling Club spring to immediate memory.
But most of all his sporting heart was at Heywood Cricket Club, and he maintained his passion for the Club from a young age and the rest of his life.
We will never forget the support of the Heywood CC Committee; bar manager Steve Cromarty and his staff, and our countless other close friends at the Club.
