Congratulations go out to Heywood CC’s Kate Cross.
Kate, 20, has been selected in the initial 30-strong squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka in September.
Kate, a product of the club’s youth set-up, opened the bowling for a strong England Academy squad in South Africa earlier this year, and they have done a lot of work with her in terms of strength and conditioning.
She was flown out to Australia last year as cover for the Ashes squad and was first reserve to go to New Zeland this winter.
However, with the ladies team so strong at the moment Kate will have to wait for her chance and take the opportunity when it comes.
