HEYWOOD may have endured a disappointing 2019 season but two of their players are to be awarded accolades on Friday (October 25).
Bobby Cross and Jack Morley have won the batting and bowling prizes respectively in Division 1A of the Greater Manchester League and their prizes will be handed over at the Presentation Dinner at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford.
Cross, Heywood’s all-time record run-scorer, scored 551 runs at an average of 39.36. And the 18-year-old Morley underlined his precocious talent by claiming 47 wickets at a miserly 8.89 runs apiece.
The qualification criteria was a period of at least 12 games totalling 400-plus runs or taking 30-plus wickets.
The other Division 1A awards go to: Brad Palmer of Swinton Moorside for fielding (13 catches); Max Cole of Denton West for wicket-keeping ( (33 victims); and Mike Finan (Flowery Field), who takes the Most Valuable Player prize.
Named professionals, overseas professionals and overseas amateurs are not included in the awards.
