ANOTHER highly successful annual event is being followed by Heywood Cricket Club shutting down while a major refurbishment takes place.
Saturday’s bonfire and fireworks display again attracted another bumper crowd to Crimble.
Now the Club is closing its doors while it gets a new interior facelift.
The refurbishment is being sponsored by Jack Wilson, one of Heywood’s finest ever players and still a keen supporter in all aspects of the Club.
The improvements will include redecorating, new carpets and upholstery, plus replacement tables and chairs.
It will follow other vital work already having taken place. The electrics have received a general upgrade, and other exterior joinery work has been completed.
Club chairman John Rhodes said: “The electrical and joinery work was a matter of the utmost urgency, and the Committee also felt that it was an apt time for the general refurbishment.
“We would like to place on record our grateful thanks to Jack Wilson for his continuing financial support, which has allowed us to spruce up the interior of the Club.”
