LIVE cricket action is scheduled to return to Crimble this forthcoming weekend (July 18 and 19) for the first time since the nationwide restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The clubhouse was re-opened to members last Thursday with recommended safety procedures in place and strictly observed.
And now there will be action on the hallowed turf, too, starting with a join 1st and 2nd X1 team game of either 40 or 50 overs against neighbours Middleton on Saturday (1.30pm).
On Sunday it will be the turn of a joint 2nd and 3rd X1 side to take to the field in a 40 overs-per side outing against fellow Greater Manchester League side Worsley.
The senior game on Saturday will give local supporters their first chance to see Amar Ullah, who was recruited as Heywood’s new professional for the scheduled 2020 campaign before the pandemic ruled out action in the regular season.
There will be restricted seating room in the newly-adapted pavilion, and anyone wishing to book one of the limited number of tables should ring 07747-444915.This is a text only phone.
Members are asked to text who they are and the other members who will be joining them (to a maximum of six), plus the time they wish to book the table to and from.
The table booking will not confirmed until you get a confirmation text.
Members watching the cricket can still access the bar and sit outside without booking a table, but may not be able to come inside in the event of bad weather and capacity. It will on a first come first served basis.
