Taylor Cup Moves Back To 40 Overs

Some good news for supporters of junior cricket in that the Central Lancashire League have confirmed that the Taylor Cup for U18′s will be played as a 40 over competition again this season.

The cup will initially take the form of a group stage with Heywood in a local group with Rochdale, Norden and Middleton.

Heywood supporters will have a very early chance to see the team in action with a home fixture against Middleton on Saturday 25th April.

The remaining matches are at Norden on 14th June and Rochdale on 5th July followed by the final stages for the teams that progress.

Heywood have of course been exploring fixtures at Under 19 level to give our youngsters the opportunity to play longer forms of cricket and this move immediately creates more fixtures for the younger players.

Heywood will still look to play some Under 19 development games but not until the second half of the summer once the Taylor Cup standings are finalised.

Early Start For Sunderland v Man Utd

The clubhouse at Crimble will be open from 5pm tonight ahead of tonight’s presentation evening. All age groups are presented with their season’s awards at this event, which starts at 7pm. The club is open to watch Sunderland beat Manchester United, starting at 5.30pm.

Under-18s v Werneth, Taylor Cup Semi-Final, Tonight, Crimble

Heywood under-18s take on Werneth in the semi-final of the Taylor Cup tonight at Crimble. Humza Naeem’s side earned their place in the final after the marvellous victory at Walsden on Friday, when they successfully chased down the home side’s target of 148. Brilliant Under-18s Pull Off Superb Run Chase

A mature and match-winning knock from Morgan KayHeywood under-18s pulled off a remarkable run chase to march into the semi-finals of the Taylor Cup. The current cup holders stunned Walsden as they overhauled their total of 148-3 with two balls to spare in a thrilling clash at Scott Street last night. Lovell And Hunt Star Turns In Taylor Cup Triumph

HEYWOOD have won the Taylor Cup, the Central Lancashire League’s knockout competition for Under-18 age group teams.    They convincingly toppled Rochdale by four wickets at Redbrook in the final, held over from the end of last season because of wet weather. Burton Cup Final Postponed – And Date For Taylor Cup Final

Not surprisingly, because of the weather, Heywood CC’s Burton Cup final clash with Middleton was postponed today. The match will now be played next Saturday, September 1.
